Created by Zach Formine, an independant exploration and heroic group focusing more on proactive heroism and long-term help for other universes and the city of Mailor itself over status, rewards or reputation. They are one of the teams leading the fight for non-human rights against humanosupremacists.

History

Origins

Zach Formine had always wanted to form his own adventuring organisation. Always making plans with his friend Zeydaan to become the greatest in the multiverse.

When Zach resigned from his job as a geography teacher and, in an incident involving Zeydaan that lead him to become half-velociraptor, he decided to make those plans official. Teaming up, Lilith Ogrash and a recently empowered Zeydaan/Isabella- the team were made an official adventuring organisation by the British Adventuring League (BAL), despite the predominantly non-human members in their eyes.

The team was originally called 'The Dimension Hoppers' until the Hawkmoths name emerged from the team's mutual fondness of Zey/Izy's pet silk moth, Bean. (None of them could correctly identify the species in a grub form).

The team were given an official base, a converted Airport on the outskirts of Mailor, despite Zach's insistence to use the Cliffside Barracks, often leading to arguments with the League liaison. Provided uniforms, equipment, small funding and training.

Due to repeated squabbles with both the league and other organisations, work would prove hard to come by for them- often playing second fiddle to groups like The Avatars of Light and left scraps of treasure.

Not helped by the team's insistence to exceed mission parameters to help people on missions on a long term basis. Notably involving the failed capture and then recruitment of Ashley.

Independant Heroes

Following an exploration of a cursed castle- the team came across Alvis in a dormant state. The team clashing with the Avatars of Light in a full on fight over the orb which was fully televised- this fight revealing to the League and to the world Zach's non-human status.

Lying to the organisation caused already touchy relations to fracture further. Following further stricter guidelines and repeated notes from the BAL to put their own heroic efforts on the backburner- the team decided to go fully independant. Fully splitting from the BAL and dubbed as 'Supervillains' from their actions by the mass media. This soured relationships with any suppliers for them, and the general human population of Mailor.

Moving to the Cliffside Barracks, the team briefly considered disbanding before Zeydaan/Isabella fully awakened her interdimensional travelling abilities, granting them further access to the multiverse than they'd had when fully supported. This was further helped when Zeydaan/Isabella's now roommate, Bean, had developed similar 4th Dimensional Abilities.

Due to a mixture of their remaining popularity within the non-human populace of Mailor, and their true actions potentially going public- the team would never be arrested or deliberately killed by both the BAL and UK government. This degree of freedom ended up benefitting the team despite now frequent battle with other adventuring teams and radicalised people. Luna Selena acted as an informant for the group to ensure they were wise to police activity and attempted attacks.

After Alvis was granted a body thanks to the efforts of both the rest of the team and Ford Goodness, using her own technological expertise- allowing him to become a permanent member and he assisted in modifying the barracks for a functional team, as well as bringing the teams now improvised weapons and equipment up to the standards they had had before.

A raid on Excelsus cybernetics lead the team to their final prominent member, Iffy.

The lack of back funding often caused the team to be unable to operate for periods of time, instead relying on other forms of income. More often than not the team having to assemble to rescue Zeydaan/Isabella from being lost in the multiverse. Though often they found people the Hawkmoths had helped would be eager to assist them at their times of need, acting as volunteers/temporary members.

Trivia

  • When the team were fully registered, they had a short-run merchandise line, including action figures and a cancelled movie.
