Though Isabella would've warned Jake against conducting such a risky ritual since there may be side effects. Egged on by their mother, they do it anyway.

The chief side effect being, if you're not careful letting dimensional magic flow through you, it will surge through you. And surge through him it did- warping the reality so that he too is Isabella.
